I am special week

We continue to give lessons on our new equipment.  Here is Mrs. Betko showing the children our knobbed cylinder.

Some of our children working with the knobbed cylinders.

This little boy has mastered our knobbed cylinders and is trying to find the holes without looking.

Our cutting and pasting area

We are working on building our finger and hand muscles. We do this by building towers with tongs.

We also do this by beading.
 Hard at work!
 Working on our numbers

Each month we have our shape of the month at our language table.  We show them how to trace the circle and they can draw their own circles and glue circles inside their circle.  I love how this little girl put circles all around her circle.

She worked so hard on this. She even tried to trace the word, circle and write her own name on the bottom of her paper.
The children get to choose their own work off the shelves.

Mrs. Porcaro showing the children our new button activity.  We do a lot of buttoning at school.  The children wear aprons for snack and art that they have to button.

Here's a friend that buttoned them all together.
We are learning to be independent.

Here we are pouring our own water to drink.

One of the many things that I love about Sunshine Mountain is that we concentrate on the WHOLE CHILD! :)

Work time

We were busy working on Friday.

We did insect rubbings!

Knobbed & knobless cylinders
We made click beetles!
Fly tweezers!  We put plastic flies in a little cup with flies decorations on it and the kids had to use the tweezers and put them on a tray.  This is great for building up finger strength.
Line drawing
Fruit Matching:  little girl is drawing one of the matching pictures and writing the name
Making a bug pattern:  green bug, green bug, blue bug, green bug, green bug, blue bug, etc.
Pin punching
Matching colors & building finger muscles
Here is our insect craft!  The kids did a great job!

Monday Wednesday Friday

Our first full day went FABULOUS!!!  The kids are awesome workers and wonderful listeners!!!  (:  You, parents, should give yourself a big pat on the back!!

We took out our necklace making.  The kids match up the pictures with the items and string them on the string to make a necklace.  This takes great concentration!

This is a matching class!  They love to earn stickers for doing a matching.  Ask your child if they've gotten any stickers!  (:
We took the tangrams out too!  The kids loved it!
This little boy is working on our knobbed cylinders.  After they have mastered this, they can try it with our "magic" glasses.  They have to try to find the right hole with only their sense of touch.
