Week of fall

We had great weather for our fall week!  The kids had a lot of fun with all of our fall songs!

One of the songs that we did was, "Fall Song".  Each child got a red leaf and an orange leaf as we sang this song.

"Fall Song"
(Wheels on the bus)

(as we sang the colors, we held them up)
The leaves on the trees turn orange & red
orange & red
orange & red
The leaves on the trees turn orange & red
all around the town.

(leaves tumble to the floor while holding on)
The leaves of the tree come tumbling down
tumbling down, tumbling down
The leaves of tree come tumbling down
all around the town.

("swish" our leaves across the floor)
The leaves of the tree go "swish, swish, swish"
"swish, swish, swish"
"swish, swish, swish"
all around the town.

(Gently drop our leaves into the middle of circle & jump in place)
We'll rake them in a pile & jump right in!
Jump right in, jump right in!
We'll rake them in a pile & jump right in
all around the town.

Here are the leaves we used for our song!

We worked hard on our fall trees!  The kids are doing a great job remembering to put on their aprons!

We read, "The Scarecrow's Hat".  The kids really enjoyed it!
Chicken admires Scarecrow's straw hat, and her eyes light up when he says he would gladly exchange it for a walking stick to rest his arms. She doesn't have a walking stick, but she knows someone who does. Badger will trade his stick for a ribbon to tie his door open. Crow is willing to give up his ribbon for some wool to make a soft nest and so on, until Chicken comes full circle around the farm visiting all the animals and is able to get Scarecrow's straw hat for a nest. Children will enjoy the repetition and refrain.
We even made a basket to go along with the story.  The kids can take out the basket and retell the story.

Here is a scarecrow song we sang too!

Scarecrow, Turn Around

Scarecrow, scarecrow, turn around. (turn around)
Scarecrow, scarecrow, jump up and down. (jump up and down)
Scarecrow, scarecrow, arms up high. (put arms straight up)
Scarecrow, scarecrow, wink your eye.  (wink your eye)
Scarecrow, scarecrow, bend your knees.  (bend your knees)
Scarecrow, scarecrow, flop in the breeze. (flop loosely)
Scarecrow, scarecrow, climb into bed. (climb as if into bed)
Scarecrow, scarecrow, rest your head. (rest head on hands)
