Way up in the A/rctic

We felt like we were in the arctic this week!  :)

The kids were very excited to learn about the arctic. We read a really fun story, "Way up in the Arctic" by Jennifer Ward.  The kids loved finding each number on the pages.  The book is about animal moms and babies that call the Arctic home.  Each page is sung to the tune of "Over in the Meadow".
After we read the story, we laid out different arctic/antarctica and non-arctic/antarctica animals and the kids picked the ones that lived in the

We are working really hard on cutting with scissors.  Here we are working on our penguins.

We also made igloos.  We talked about building the igloos from the bottom up just like blocks.

Working on our yoga!!  T/TH class doing the "Moose" pose aka warrior 1.
The "walrus" aka cobra pose
 "Walrus"
 "Whale" aka locust pose

Ask your child what's in the reading corner!  :)

You put your right mitten in, you take your right mitten out, you put your right mitten in and you shake it all about.
You do the snowy pokey and you turn yourself around.
That's what it's all about!
